REFLEXOLOGY

Reflexology is a safe, gentle non-invasive holistic treatment performed on the feet or hands. It’s a natural therapy that can help the body produce more energy, help boost the immune system and create a stronger body and calmer mind.

It has been practised for thousands of year by the early Indians, Egyptians and Chinese as a healing practice.

Reflexology is suitable for everyone including children, pregnant women* and the elderly.

Reflexologists cannot diagnose, prescribe or claim to cure, but reflexology is a complementary therapy that can work alongside traditional medicine, known as Integrated Medicine. It can be beneficial in helping to reduce stress-related ailments, such as:

  • Stress and anxiety

  • Asthma and respiratory problems

  • Back and shoulder pain

  • Eczema and dermatitis

  • Digestive disorders, such as IBS and constipation

  • Headaches and migraines

  • Hormonal problems

  • Insomnia and sleep disorders

  • Auto-immune disorders

Reflexology has many benefits and can induce a deep sense of calm. Many people use reflexology as a way to unwind and destress the mind and body, as it can induce deep relaxation.

ONCOLOGY TREATMENTS

Many people are apprehensive about the safety of massage or reflexology during and after cancer treatment. Complementary Alternative Medicine is becoming more widely available and popular to support and complement conventional medical treatment, this is known as Integrated Medicine.

Being diagnosed with cancer or any other chronic illness has a mental and physical effect on your wellbeing, causing stress, anxiety, nausea and pain.

Both massage and reflexology are non-invasive therapies which are dedicated for people with cancer and those with life limiting illness. The treatment can be adapted to people of all ages and any cancer.

Please note:

Oncology Therapies should only be carried out by a therapist who has been specially trained to carry out massage and reflexology on people undergoing treatment or who have a history of cancer.

Our therapist Anne has trained in both Oncology Reflexology and Oncology Massage gaining Diplomas at the Middlesex School of Complementary Medicine in 2018 and 2019 respectively. Each Diploma required 20 case studies to be completed.

Prior to treatment we would ask that you check with your Oncologist, Consultant or Cancer Nurses if they are happy for you to have reflexology or massage and any areas they feel should be avoided.
